Plugzmart Launches ‘Relay’ to Maximize EV Charger Visibility Across Multiple CMS Platforms
IIT Madras-incubated Plugzmart has launched Relay, a transformative middleware platform that enables a single public EV charger to connect with multiple Charging Management Systems (CMS). This move aims to significantly enhance EV charger visibility, utilization, and accessibility for users and operators alike.

Traditionally, an EV charger could be configured with only one CMS — the backend software responsible for managing charging sessions, monitoring charger health, and enabling billing. However, this restricted visibility to just one app or CMS network, limiting the discoverability of available charging stations for EV users.

Relay disrupts this model by acting as a smart middleware that allows a public charger to be simultaneously connected to multiple CMS networks. As a result, a single EV charger can now be displayed across several CMS apps, improving network visibility, user convenience, and charger utilization rates.

According to Raghavendar TS, Director of Plugzmart’s Software Business Unit, "One of the biggest roadblocks for EV adoption is the limited availability of chargers visible on public platforms. Our solution maximizes the visibility of each installed charger by allowing it to appear on multiple networks. This boosts charger utilization, increases ROI for charger owners, and gives EV users more options.”

In addition to Relay, Plugzmart has also developed its own IoT-enabled EV charging management system, offering a fully integrated solution for smart charger communication and real-time operations.

The innovation comes at a crucial time as India pushes for faster EV adoption and better public charging infrastructure. With Relay, Plugzmart offers a scalable, software-centric approach to solving one of the industry’s core challenges — fragmented charger visibility — and aligns with national goals of building a more connected, user-friendly EV ecosystem.
