Tata Motors Achieves Record EV Sales in July 2025 Despite Overall Decline in PV Sales
Tata Motors reported total passenger vehicle (PV) sales of 40,175 units in July 2025, reflecting an 11% year-on-year decline compared to 44,954 units in July 2024. The dip was primarily due to a 12% decrease in domestic PV sales, which stood at 39,521 units, down from 44,725 units in the same month last year.
Despite the drop in domestic sales, Tata Motors saw a notable rise in exports, which surged by 186% to 654 units in July 2025 from 229 units a year ago. However, the highlight of the month was the electric vehicle (EV) segment. Tata Motors achieved its best-ever monthly EV sales, reaching 7,124 units (domestic + exports), marking a 42% year-on-year increase from 5,027 units in July 2024. This is the first time the company crossed the 7,000-unit mark in monthly EV sales.
The company also recorded its highest-ever EV bookings in a single month during July 2025, showcasing growing consumer interest in its electric lineup. This strong EV performance underscores Tata Motors’ rising prominence in India’s electric mobility sector, even as the broader PV segment faces headwinds.
