Ampere Nexus Becomes First EV to Conquer Shipki La Pass
Greaves Electric Mobility’s Ampere Nexus achieved a landmark feat this Independence Day, becoming the first electric two-wheeler to reach Shipki La Pass in Himachal Pradesh—just 200 meters short of India’s Line of Control. The 13,200 ft ascent marks a historic moment for Indian EV technology, demonstrating its ability to perform beyond cities and into some of the nation’s toughest terrains.

The three-day expedition began on August 9, 2025, from Chandigarh and covered a challenging 425 km route through Shimla, Kinnaur Valley, Reckong Peo, and Pooh, before culminating at Shipki La Pass on August 12. Riders battled steep gradients, rocky tracks, and high-altitude conditions. The journey concluded with a symbolic flag-hoisting ceremony alongside Indian Army personnel, blending national pride with clean mobility innovation.

Launched in 2024, the Ampere Nexus has already earned recognition for its endurance with long-distance achievements like the Kashmir–Kanyakumari ride. Its Shipki La success, certified by the India Book of Records, underscores the scooter’s rugged engineering and reliable design.

This achievement also signals broader potential—EVs can now be envisioned not just for cities, but also for remote, high-altitude areas. It highlights India’s growing EV resilience and strengthens the vision of clean transport across all terrains.
